Electrotherapy (Electroconvulsive Therapy)
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or what is also known as electroshock therapy, is a medical treatment commonly used in patients suffering from severe depression or bipolar disorder that did not respond to other treatments. ECT includes short electrical stimulation to the brain while the patient is under anesthesia, where electric energy is used as a medical treatment and applied as a stimulant (kinesthetic) of neurological disease or to help wound healing by promoting blood circulation (BTL-4000 premium, Combi 200 Gymna Uniphy, Guidance C Gymna Uniphy, Myomed 932). ECT is also often used when other treatments, including medications and psychotherapy, do not work. It is also used for people who need a rapid response to treatment due to the severity of their condition.
